New accreditation for Extractables & Leachables studies on medical devices

The Science Centre department of Mérieux NutriSciences obtained the ISO 17025 accreditation for studies of Extractables and Leachables in the medical device sector.

Thanks to the commitment and expertise of our analysts and researchers, Accredia recognized the identification of VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds), SVOCs (Semi-Volatile Organic Compounds) and NVOCs (Non-Volatile Organic Compounds) methods.

Our database

In order to create new dynamic databases, the information obtained during the investigations was complemented by evaluations of specific standards already available to the laboratory for VOC, SVOC and NVOC analyses on other matrices. In addition, public database cross-references made it possible to further enrich the list of molecules to be included in the libraries.

Based on the investigations and evaluations performed by our researchers, over 1,000 molecules were selected based on frequency of detection in analyses, presence in more than one public database and availability of reference material in the laboratory. However, the work of our experts has just begun. The selected molecules are in fact our starting point, and as the studies and evaluations progress, the libraries will gradually be implemented with new compounds, improving their accuracy, reliability and expression of results.
